Following the recent release of the Queensland state Governments budget and funding awarded for key Townsville infrastructure projects such as the Townsville Stadium, Solar Projects and more. Townsville’s job market is improving steadily and Realestate.com.au’s Property Outlook and other various economic reports place Townsville on the fringe of growth in the property sector.

Realestate.com.au detail demand for Townsville listings have increased by 10 per cent according to new figures released.

Realestate.com.au chief economist Nerida Conisbee said job growth and investor interest could be behind the increased demand for Townsville listings.

“It’s often driven in regional area by job growth and when we see job growth we see an increase for rental demand and then buyer demand,” she said.

“Potentially there is also some investment demand as well because after the downturn we have seen in regional areas after the end of the mining boom, that is now starting to turn around.”

This is backed up by a recent purchase of a block of 10 units has been snapped up by a Sydney-based buyer for $920,000 as investor activity heats up in Townsville.

Mr McDonough from M Property Townsville said both local and southern investors were becoming more active in Townsville’s market with several of his listings attracting investor interest.

“I’ve got other listings on my books that I’m also getting inquiries about from investors,” he said.

Ms Conisbee from realestate.com.au said it was expected that demand for Townsville property would continue to increase. This is good news for investors or owner-occupiers looking to sell prior to moving onto a new property.
